Witnessing LeBron’s greatest game: Brian Windhorst on his favorite conference final game | The Jump

After Paul Pierce reminisces about the Boston Celtics’ 21-point fourth-quarter comeback vs. the New Jersey Nets in the 2002 Eastern Conference Finals, Brian Windhorst and Rachel Nichols make their picks for the best conference finals game they attended. Windhorst (2:10) recalls the 2012 ECF Game 6 between the Miami Heat and Celtics, when LeBron James took over with 45 points.

I remember Paul Pierce’s comeback in 2002 against those New Jersey Nets. It was cool and a great moment in his career, but the East during those years were the JV squad compared to the West at that time. From the East perspective it was a matter of who’s turn it was to lose in the finals to the Shaq-Kobe-Phil Lakers dynasty.

Bron don’t get enough credit for that game vs the Piston. Dude was on another one. Scored 29 of the last 30 points of the game. A straight up carry.👏🏾

Thats the greatest game of his career. And still people found a way to bring it down. Skip Bayless went on television the next day and created the most absurd narrative that not idiots quote whenever you bring up this debate. He said he wasn’t impressed because there was no pressure on lebron. Everyone expected lebron to lose so he could just play freely and didn’t have any pressure. Really?? no pressure being 28 with no rings? No pressure with you entire team probably being broken up if you lose that game? No pressure becoming the most hated and laughed at superstar in NBA history after blowing the mass series and then the Celtics series in consecutive series?? LeBron had all the pressure in the world on his shuoulders. and he delivered like no other.

Lbj vs Spurs game 7 was his 2nd greatest performance behind 2012 G6 Boston. That dagger shot over Kawhi to seal it is underrated, certainly his top 3 shot of his career.

    2018 NBA Finals – Game 1
    GSW vs Cavs

If he won that, or made a game-winning buzzer-beater shot, that would be his greatest game.

Respect to Paul Pierce for being honest today about LeBron’s performance. It took everything in him to say something nice about LeBron 😂.
