Right. Keep in mind these are the same KIDS who think they should be getting paid because they don’t think they get anything. You’re amateurs for a reason but even as amateurs as you get to eat four times a day and regular college students can’t even afford that.

Unknown And to be quite frank with you they do get paid. Every week they get a certain amount of money for meal plans. Most guys take that money that they get for the meal plans, and save it for things like weed and clothes and other stuff like that. Just because they’re not getting a paycheck every week doesn’t mean they are not getting paid. Their education is covered and their food is covered and they have more than enough left over from that to do what they damn well please with it. Why do you think you see all these college players with all these different shoes that you can’t even buy your self?

A friend of mine played at a D1 University in Pennsylvania. Not going to name the school. This dude was walking around with every possible Nike shoes that you could imagine in multiple different G-Shock watches that he got just from meal plan money alone. That wasn’t recruitment money either

College is where you pay your dues. College is where you take your bumps and bruises and you get better as a player and grow into a man. It’s a place to grow and prepare yourself for your career. College is not a career. There are a lot of guys who play college basketball that would never make it as a pro even overseas at mid-level pro leagues

Unknown let me tell you something man, when you play professional basketball overseas, if you are not good your ass gets cut and you get sent home and they fly another guy out to take your spot the very next day. And that’s at the professional level. This is college we’re talking. If a pro is held to that standard, then a college student who thinks he’s going to be a pro at the next level should also be held to that same standard. Also college athletes don’t get their scholarship taken away if they play bad. As long as they are maintaining their grades and doing what is asked of them and behaving themselves and not acting inappropriately they will keep that scholarship. They can play sub par, but still have the full ride. An athlete has never lost a scholarship because they’re not averaging enough points or getting enough rebounds their freshman year and so forth. I’ve never seen or heard of that happening.

blackout2430 I get that but what if they want to get something from a store, like some shoes or some new clothes or a basketball accessories. They can’t have a side job to make money or they loose their scholarship. Can’t even make money online in anyway or do anything because if they find out, they loose their scholarship. And NCAA is making money off of them, wayyyy more than what they’re getting as scholarship money.

Cashout ——— That’s not true you can have a job you just can’t make a certain amount of money or work over a certain amount of hours in the summer. But I do agree with you. Look I think college athletes should be able to sell their own memorabilia, they should be able to start their own business, and they should be able to make money off of their likeness. I just disagree with them getting a flat out paycheck because that’s what pros are they get a paycheck. There are some college guys that will never cut it at the pro level. They don’t deserve money for that they’re not good enough at least yet

I think it’s just the fact these schools pull in so much money from the Games Compared to tuition , and the players are the reason they make so much money of course. I think they need some type of compensation, but not an outrageous amount.
