The GM quit, the coach got fired, a bunch of players tense in trade rumors, everyone humoring the idea of trading the best player. It’s literally the same thing as the lakers last year. So does this mean the rockets will win in 2021?

It’s been a tumultuous offseason for the Houston Rockets.

Sporting a green General Manager and Head Coach, along with two superstars who want out, Clutch City would be forgiven for setting their sights a little lower.

    Not so.

Newly minted GM Rafael Stone made it clear that he has the same goal as his predecessor, Daryl Morey: Proving the Rockets are more than just another Western Conference contender.

“There’s no reason to go and blow it up,” said Stone. “We’ve had some amazing successes, and some really tough losses. Getting to the Western Conference Finals is an incredible achievement. It is. But we can do better. We know we can lose at the highest level.”

The recently departed Morey knows the criticism all too well. Despite numerous close calls, many wonder if his approach can summit the mountain. Morey stands by his work.

“The reality is, if you win 60+ games you have a chance to win the whole thing. And if you can win the whole thing, you can definitely lose it. We were right there.”

There is still the question of James Harden’s workload. Famous for his Iversonian usage, Harden has faltered during playoff runs, leading some to suggest that fewer targets may help save his toughest games for when the team needs them most. Harden disagrees.

“It’s a rhythm game. The way you play leading up to the Finals has a lot to do with how you perform when you get there. I can’t change what I’m doing. I just need to keep working,” Harden said.

“I know we’re going to get there because of the work we put in. We struggle in the weight room, in practice, when the cameras are off, so we can struggle when it counts.”

There is much to be said about HBCU’s. They aren’t exclusively Black now of course, but they give opportunities that some might not get otherwise. I remember for awhile, only Notre Dame had more people getting drafted to the NFL than Grambling.

Literally one of the nicest and realist dudes in the league. I can’t believe the cops arrested him for LITERALLY cleaning up graffiti and picking up trash after one of the riots.
