I’m surprised JJ Redick is complaining. While I understand his frustration, the NBA is still a business. JJ normally has such a nuanced understanding of how things work. I’m surprised he would blast the Pelicans’ management team so publicly like that. He should know the Pelicans are going to take the best deal that they can get. If he wanted to be so close to Brooklyn, then he should have taken a discount from Philly two seasons ago.

He clearly said they promised him a trade to a team of his choice then dealt him to whatever team he felt like for their own personal interest. The team was wrong for that yet ESPN is trying to justify it.

I like Redick, I think he’s totally valid in saying he’s disgruntled they lied to him about where he was going. But also, as JJ said on the podcast, his priority was to be close to his family in NY. If that was such a priority, don’t sign a contract with NOLA last season, stay with Philly or go to NYK.
