*JAMAL MURRAY IS THE PERSONIFICATION OF CURRENT DAYโ€™S NBA*

Despite the fact that a vast majority of NBA fans are considering the Jazz-Nuggets 1st round matchup one of the best series so far in the playoffs, I simply canโ€™t stand its games anymore. You can call me bias for writing this text, as Donovan Mitchell is by far my favorite player in the league and I am obviously rooting for Utah, but the things that are going to be said have no relation to my personal preferences.

It is clear that the NBA has been changing the last few years, but I really think things are getting out of control. The Golden State Warriors, even though they started the tendency of high-volume 3pt shooting and pissed all of the opposition fans, still gave a lot on the defensive end of the floor. The current Nuggets team, and they are no exception in todayโ€™s league, are abusing of this fashion while neglecting any kind of defense. And Jamal Murray is the personification of that way of playing.

Murray has been highly praised for his performances on the series against the Jazz, but watch him play simply enfuriates me. He has a very aesthetically pleasing game and that combined with his crazy scoring outbursts have led to people thinking he is a lot better than he really is. I donโ€™t really care if he dropped 50 in a game, but he doesnโ€™t even try on defense. He is a certified liability on that end of the game, but not even try to get off screens? And donโ€™t come at me saying โ€œUh, but Donovan is dropping more than fifty as well, you just donโ€™t get mad because you root for himโ€, because the man gives his all on perimeter defense despite being clearly undersized for a 2-guard.

Do you really think the current Mavericks offense would have the best efficiency ever if anything was wrong with NBA defense? No harm to Rick Carlisleโ€™s scheme, but it just ainโ€™t that. I get the point when the analytics say that taking threes is the most efficient way to score, but donโ€™t you think that its overuse make the game way too monotone? I really miss watching the defensive oriented San Antonio Spurs, the Grit and Grind Memphis Grizzlies and lots of other teams that prioritized the pure beauty of basketball. The current dayโ€™s NBA is just not the same game I fell in love with back then.

I swear he could be doing this every night and be a 23 ppg scorer. He only plays like this though whenever he’s hot or feeling really confident. Bro needs to approach the game likes this EVERY night, even if he’s missing some shots
