Why not replace the All Star Game with that mid season tournament? The 8 teams will be determined by players and they select their teams. The money will be donated to charities.

In my opinion… they need to pick one. Play-in OR mid-season. It works in European football because those are the only tournaments and have implications on legacy and the season. NBA has a playoffs… that’s the most important part of the year and we all know that’s the big money maker that everyone follows. Players literally will sit intentionally for 20 games to be ready for playoffs. And I fear a mid-season tournament will dilute the overall product. If the NBA needs to do anything, it’s reduce the 82 game schedule. Then go from there
