The Prince’s realm hadn’t made it to the banquet of feasts. The competition between houses was fierce. The young Prince was dazzling, great in his own right.stomach rumbled in anticipationThe Prince was excited to test himself against the “Chosen One”. He laughed at the name. Upset that his suspects were so excited about the King. “I’ll show them” He said to himself.
The Prince would soon learn just how large a King’s plate was.
The King was back. The realm had returned to it’s former glory. The Prince’s splendor hadn’t declined and the King’s greatness exceeded the tales told around campfires. Yet…. a hatred brewed inside the belly of the Prince. “If they had built around me I’d had taken them to the promise land.” He muttered. All the villagers gathered around to listen to the King. “We didn’t succeed this year but I promised with the help of my young Prince.” He wrapped his arm around the young man, “We will defeat those Warriors!” The crowed roared. Yet the Prince forced a smile. His hate growing as the King gave him praise. The compliments were a curse shooting like arrows into the Prince’s hardened heart.
No one but the King noticed the Prince’s demeanor. He’d let him be for now. He would fulfill the prophecy by any means necessary. And that he did.
It has been almost 3 years since the King returned. The realm had been named the Champions of All Houses. The huge banquet was a unending feast for everyone. They defeated the Warriors in glorious fashion, the royalty were healthy, and they were ready for a repeat. So why was the Prince so cold. After all he was a champion. His and everyone’s plate was full. But why? Why so cold?
As the Prince looked up towards the King’s throne he was blinded by the jewels. 3 huge diamonds. 2 had the imprint of House Heat. 1 the newest House Cleveland jewel. The Prince had one of his own tucked away in his chamber. Suddenly the Prince shivered, rubbing his arms looking around for the source of the cold. Then he noticed around him…. A shade in the shape of a throne. The King’s throne. The Prince was freezing under the shadow of the King’s massive throne. His heart burned with hatred which warmed him a bit. He liked that. He looked up towards the throne and was met by the King’s glare. A most hideous glare. A glare reserved for the King’s enemies. The Prince knew the King was aware. The Prince stormed out of the banquet as the laughter and music went on.
The Kingdom would lose its position to their rivals that year. The Prince would leave to House Celtic where he struggled with injury. The King would stay 1 more year trying but narrowly failing to achieve another Championship. With his promise fulfilled he too would leave to join House Lakers to chase another Jewel.
The Prince sat quietly nursing his injuries when he thought to himself, “How can they be so happy under the shadow of the his throne?” A raven enter his room with a letter. It had a seal from House Nets. The Prince dropped the thought and began reading the invitation. He’d never ponder the thought again. He’d never realize why the subjects weren’t cold as he was. They were warmed by the admiration they had for the Great King.
King James.
Sitting on his throne at House Lakers the King grinned. Greatness goes on. It doesn’t stop for anyone. The new subjects half loved half hated him. He wasn’t bothered. Long removed from their former ruler, The Black Mamba, the Laker Realm was starving. They’d learn his reign brought much wealth. “Full bellies don’t complain.” He chuckled at the thought.OneExcellent
