Na that last one was the refs’ fault. Dude was trying to pass it to his teammate inbounds, but the ref was in the way bro. Ref should’ve handed them the ball from the sidelines.
#1, ball to ref, should have been legal and play carry on.
Consider as a general rule, the ball is legal or illegal depending on where the ref is standing.
1. The ball becomes dead if the ref is out of bounds when it hits him even if it comes onto the court without touching the floor out of bounds. The team that caused it to hit him loses the ball.
2. Ditto if the ref is standing backcourt when the ball hits him in the process of an ‘over n back’ situation.
3. Ball is legal if in the course of the game, the ball hits the ref standing on the floor, play continues, even if hitting him caused a turn-over.
Ergo, the ball hits him on the floor, play continues. Imagine if an opposing player had intercepted the pass after the ball hit the ref and the player scored. Would the play be called back or whistled dead?
Would the scoring coach ask for the points or the out of bounds?
