Tracy McGrady and Amin Elhassan join Rachel Nichols on The Jump to play “Make or Miss,” reacting to dimes from Nikola Jokic and TJ McConnell, Tyler Herro trying to dunk on Rudy Gobert, CJ McCollum’s sweet move, JR Smith showing both versions of his game with the Los Angeles Lakers, and Sabrina Ionescu debuting for the New York Liberty. They then (3:39) react to the New York Knicks hiring Tom Thibodeau as head coach.

The only problem I have with the NBA is the recycling of garbage coaches. Tibs is not a players coach. His drill sergeant style won’t last long. Then again, its the Knicks! π€¦

There will be haters but if you look into his philosophyβs he says he adapts to change with the generation and he gets a bad rap because of his previous coaches teams we canβt say anything until we see him coach for more than 2 years mark my words we will win at least 16 more games if we add players like a cp3

Lol. Another dysfunctional hire by NY. Thibs is 30 years too late when it comes to coaching. Evident by the number of players just burning out playing for him.

Can someone explain to me how that Sabrina Ionescu highlight is not a travel. To me it looks like she shuffles her feet and carries at the top of the key.

LOL at all the black bigots out there who think that the NBA needs more black coaches. Its like “racist much?” Kudos to black folks who don’t think in this narrow-minded, wrong-side-of-history backward thinking. (cough) SAS (cough)

Rachael is 100% right, it’s the same thing with the Knicks.
The Knicks are the best at setting high expectation and consistently failing to meet them. They are a team that continues to act on the false assumption that people want to play for them. They have no long term rebuild plan and instead try to rush everything. They make dumb promises about things which are completely out of their control. They are a team that thinks intentionally losing is the best way to get the number 1 pick when in fact the lottery odds don’t work like that, hence why the Knicks did not get Zion. They’re a team that would rather acquire big name free agents and star players as opposed to developing home-grown talent and keeping them happy (i.e. Porzingis) They are a team that prefers name value over actual impact. We’ve seen saviours such as Carmelo Anthony, Phil Jackson, Kristaps Porzingis, and David Fizdale all try, and fail to change the culture of this team. Then there’s Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Zion Williamson, LeBron James, and Dwayne Wade, the saviours that never actually came. Now they think Tom Thibedeau – a guy who pretty much ruined Derrick Rose’s career and nearly ruined Jimmy Butlers – and Giannis – a guy who is on a very successful team right now who also has 28 free agency options besides the Knicks – are gonna be the saviours. I’ll believe it when I see it
