I see where ant is coming from I think he means the average player is more skilled in the 2020’s vs 90’s – 00’s & even early 10’s. But from basically the 90’s to 11-12 the NBA had better defense. Kinda by default because of rules but still. And yeah MJ & Kobe are two of the most skilled ever on both ends. But those are two top 5 players ever with 6 & 5 rings to add to their resume. At the end of the day that’s all that matters is nba championships.

I like Ant-Man but his ignorance here is a reflection of a larger problem. That problem being that the past holds no value….that somehow if you didn’t see it there wasn’t anything special about it. What happened ti being a student of the game? Studying the greats and learning from them? There were plenty of skilled players back then just like there are now. But let’s not get it twisted that shooting 40 3’s a game and dunking in a wide open lane somehow how makes these players MORE skilled. No mid range game and a glaring lack of playing defense debunks a lot of that talk.

That’s false. A lot of players in the league right now have a midrange game, and there are a lot of good defenders in the league.

Another young player tastes a little success and immediately intoxicated from the fumes of his own flatulence.

No skill is just wrong haha but today’s game definitely has more skill. That’s why for me today’s game is harder. Sure it’s less physical but as player as well I would rather go against someone more physical than more skilled than me lol and dumb casuals can’t relate to that

its not about the great players being skilled, its about the general skill level of the league. current sucky players are way way way more skilled than back then. you could argue magic, larry, and mj are roughly equivlant skill to steph, kd, lebron, but look at the rest of the league and rosters. if i recall the bulls started luc longley, rodman, and maybe even kerr? those players wouldnt be in the league now, and thats considered one of the two greatest teams ever? you cant compare them, its a global game today. if you think the general player isnt better today im sorry you are delusional and idiotic and stuck in the past

The league is in bad hands lol. And I like Ant but these kids are ignorant.

Ant Man admitting he’s not a student of the game is not a good look. Magic Johnson is still the most skilled passer ever. Jason Kidd, Mark Jackson, John Stockton, and Steve Nash were more skilled passers than anyone in todays game. Isaiah Thomas and Jason “White Chocolate” Williams had a stronger handle than anyone in todays game. Hakeem, Kareem, and Karl Malone put in more work on the low block than 50 Cent. Larry Bird is arguably the greatest shooter ever given that he was ‘pure’ with both hands. I could go on and on. Ant Man needs to do his homework.

I think he just used the wrong word. They weren’t less skilled back then, but on average the players in the NBA today are more athletic than they were back in the day.

Stop naming irrelevant ballers Stephen A. Stick to the name brand high points average, bucket getters. There’s realistically only a handful of guys with skill back then and now we have a whole league full of talent on that level. It’s just facts. Idc if they learned from the previous players. The reality is these current players are way more skillful. Some things you don’t need to a whole sherlock holmes investigation for in order to find out the truth. Some things are just obvious.

team USA also versed France back in 2000, but they weren’t in danger of losing to France and their 7-footer. Vince Carter jumped OVER their 7-footer. That’s pretty skillful I’d say

“I didn’t watch back then,” so saying they have no skill makes him look like an imbecile, not a young, ignorant man.

The thing is, Ant Man does not understand the Entire Definition of Skill. In basketball, we define skill in so many ways. It’s not just a Jordan type skill.
– playing as a team with chemistry is a skill.
– being an awesome rebounder is a skill
– being an awesome defensive player is a skill
– being a great point guard floor general is a skill
– being a great shooter..skill
– great passer..skill
– great vision, great ball handling… both skill.
So, my boy Ant is just wrong about what defines as skill. If you take all these skills i put in mind, then basketball is such a beautiful sport.. it’s wonderful to play. Everybody can contribute.
