developing hoopers, you cant give a player a running start at you. dont give a player space to attack you or they will. like in that 1st move. there is an exception (tip: there always is). and that is if the player shoots very poorly outside 15ft (or while moving). otherwise even if a player has limited range (but shoots well inside that range) get into his/her space. offense is about creating space; defense, its opposite, is about limiting space. gene smith (georgetown). ps_2nd clip is better so he may hav learned, if clips are sequential, but still too much space. that’s playing scared. solve the real problems: improve your footwork, fitness, strength, hands, balance and quickness …and get close.

Genuine curiosity , on the initial step he drags his foot, would that not technically be a travel then? I actually don’t know and am curious if anyone here can see what I’m talking about and explain it

You can’t stop that unless you swipe at the cross over and that’s why as a defender you should not look at his eyes but your iq must be high to be aware of the passing or screens if any. Basically play preventive 😂
