Why isn’t Jason Tatum guarding Jimmy in the 4th? Probably because he’s an overrated wannabe “Him”. He’s not it. Should never be in the MVP conversation AGAIN!! He’s a choker! Always scared of the smoke.
I am gonna say that Boston has a Robert Williams problem. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love Timelord. But Boston can’t seem to figure out what to do with him. For the first part of the season, Boston looked like a championship team. They played with pace, great spacing, great ball movement. The five-out concept opened driving lanes for Tatum/Brown and the Celtics were a historically great offense with both Tatum and Brown doing awful from beyond the arc.
Robert Williams comes back and Boston changes all of that to go back to the double-big concept that has been good-but-not-good-enough for how many years, but lets us play him. Now, this is something that you usually only see with star players. Usually, teams don’t abandon a working strategy unless it’s to reintegrate a returning star. Boston is therefore treating Timelord like a star player in the franchise. Yet the expectation and designs aren’t there to treat him like a star player. Where are the designed PnR plays? Where are the expectations that he take more shots? In two games versus Miami, the only player that has taken fewer shots than Timelord is Payton Pritchard. There’s also the fact that playing Timelord means we are completely ditching the 5 out concept since he can’t shoot and his presence in the paint often clogs lanes as he’s not a good sealer.
This is what is inexplicable to me about this team. You do not abandon a strategy that is working at historically great levels unless it’s to bring back a star player. I still don’t know why Boston cut so many of Grant Williams’ minutes…despite the fact that the man is shooting almost 40% from beyond the arc and was integral to last year’s playoff run. All to bring back a guy that plays less than 30 minutes, takes about 5-6 shots and is often underwhelming on the boards for a center? None of this makes any sense. It’s almost as if we wanted to lose. If we played 5-out with Horford at the five, we’d slot in Grant Williams or White to the starting lineup (matchup dependent likely). Either way, we are adding in a 36-40% three pointer shooter, in addition to letting Horford facilitate from closer to the perimeter, where defenses have to guard him honestly.
i dont wanna take over from the heat, but like, this is being more of a case of celtics losing then the oposite, like, how can a team with so much talent forget how to play ball? its not even the first time this happen, last series was the same, they are all so inconsistent, the heat should take advantage and finish the series fast or else… if somehow they learn how to play again
