The way Gelo “plays” defense would frustrate any teammate who is serious about getting stops. Cherrypicks all the time, “plays” D perfunctorily, but not at all seriously, just picks up anybody he wants to pick up, even if there’s already a man on the guy (obviously leaving some dude open, probably his own man), stays on the perimeter (so he can cherrypick) playing porously. Good offensive production here, but really he completely breaks down his team’s D.

He was what, 185 nationally coming out of HS? Which is very impressive. It’s just that maybe 45 guys make the league each year and of that number maybe 15 will be NBA difference makers.
